Here is the bill for fuel that we bought before handing over the boat. Cost for fuel was 23 euros because we sailed from Alimos and fuel was only used for entering and leaving harbours. Total motoring time was about 15 hours over the two weeks. And below, an invoice from Cosmos claiming 252 euros for fuel consumption, about 150 liters for 150NM journey. At an average of 2 liters an hour, or 10 miles), it would suggest that they motored for about 75 hours to return to Alimos, ( distance of 150 NM, requiring about 15 hours of travel) . This wqas used as justification for not returning our deposit.

    • As I understand Andonis cleaned the sped meter and depth meter and I suppose it is working. How long will you stay in Serifis?

Friday 17 June

  • ME: missed your message. Big problems are still anchor chain and leaking dingy so we stay anyway until fixed, and because of weather, certainly until Monday. Andoni just came, we agreed with him that we would stay and he just came and told us he is awaiting your instruction for dingy and chain.
    • Cosmos(Athens)   will send another drum for the chain
    •  ME: we also noticed that bimini screws are only holding on one side so we risk losing bimini in strong wind if it is raised.
    • Cosmos(Athens)  I understand but in strong winds we close the bimini or else get ripped
    • ME: yes I know but just wanted you to know that it is already damage. All we want is an anchor and a dingy without leak then we move on on Monday. Can you ask Andoni to contact us so we know when to stay on the boat for him otherwise we cannot leave…

            09:30 Cosmos(Athens)  good  morning.I just got the chain drum. There is ferry today that will be in Serifos at 19.30

            09:31 ME: OK, I have another question. The water  tank indicator gives only one reading. When I switch tanks I have the same reading when the front tank is full. Is the reading a combination of both tanks? The last Bavaria we had showed both tanks separately,   but here we have just one reading

            ME: Unfortunately the anchor problems continue with all the chain slipping to the bottom each time we lower. We have alos lost the depth this morning again and the speed has never worked. My wife and I are experienced sailors but it is irresponsible to sail without anchor, depth nor speed. We care tied up in Kamares and considering our options. I have informed London but cannot see what can be done to rectify a disastrous charter. I await your ideas.

We are waiting in Merichas for somebody to take the boat to Athens and then we shall simply go home. Too many problems…

About the anchor system, the moter and the upper system are brand new. What do you think is the problem, because the yacht sailing with this system (this compilation) for 6 years now
23/06/2022, 13:28 – Gilbert: We cannot discuss like this. We need a depth that works when you enter a port. We have sailed with Nomikos since 1995 and before that with my own boat since 1972.
I have never had problems like this. Come and see for yourself, but we wish to handover the boat and leave soon.
